At Steinbrenner High School, lunchtime has become one of the most exciting parts of the school day thanks to the “Lunch and Learn” program. For years, the school has invited specialists from a wide range of fields to speak with students who sign up for that day’s session, transforming a regular lunch period into a lively and informative career exploration opportunity.

Students gather in a designated classroom with their lunches as guest speakers share insights about their work, education, and daily experiences. The setting encourages students to ask questions and engage in genuine conversations they might not otherwise have. Many students describe the program as both energizing and eye-opening.

Senior, Maya Raj, shared her enthusiasm, saying, “It’s super fun and educational and I never thought I could learn something.” Another student, Deepika P, added, “It’s such a cool experience finding people with similar interests and getting to learn something new”.

Teachers and counselors emphasize that this is exactly what the program aims to achieve: helping students discover possibilities beyond the classroom and connect their interests to real-world careers. Whether students arrive with clear goals or only a vague curiosity, they very often leave with new knowledge—and sometimes newfound direction.
