On Tuesday, February 24th, the Steinbrenner chorus held its annual spring concert in the auditorium. The show went from 6 to 8 pm with performances from Chamber, Serenata, premiere, and the universal group alongside three beautifully done solos.
The Chamber choir began the concert by singing the two songs that they are presenting at MPA, “Two Sturdy Oaks” by Neil Ginsberg and “Ocean and Stars” by Amy Bernon. In just the first notes, the Steinbrenner choir wowed the audience with their harmony, and their powerful voices grabbed the attention of everyone in the room and left them speechless.
Once the Chamber choir finished, it was time for the first solo of the night. Choir student Ashleigh Krekorian sang a beautiful rendition of the song “Christmas Lullaby”. Her voice echoed wonderfully through the auditorium and was met with mountains of applause from the audience.
Next up was the Steinbrenner Serenate who performed “Lunar Lullaby” by Jacob Narverud and “Truth” by Andrea Ramsey. Both performances were absolutely showstopping; the students’ voices twisted together in a wonderful harmony that demanded everyone in the audience’s attention.
The second solo of the night belonged to Angelina Lu, whose performance of “Ave Maria” moved everyone in the theater.
The last solo in the concert was the song “My White Knight,” and was sung by Camryn Renuart. Renuart’s handling of the song was fantastic, and she provided a beautiful and endearing performance.
The second-to-last song of the night was a unique rendition of the song “Goodluck Babe” by Chappel Roan and was performed by the group going to Universal. This performance was actually quoted to be Mr. Dyle, the chorus teacher’s favorite performance. “I like Chappel Roan as an artist, I like some of her songs, but I heard that arrangement of Goodluck Babe, and it was definitely moving. I thought it was a beautiful piece,” said Mr. Dyle, stating the reason behind his choice. And he is absolutely correct, the Universal Choir’s performance of said song was fantastic.
The concert closed out with a premiere performance of “Back on 74” by the band Jungle. The students dancing and singing livened everyone in the theater up, and once done, the auditorium filled with cheers from proud parents, students, and friends.
When asked what he would say to his students after the concert, “Good job. I’m proud of them, and I hope they always find the joy in singing,” said Mr. Dyle.
