Popular coffee store, Dutch Bros, first originated from Grants Pass, Oregon in 1992. Founded by the Boersma brothers, known for their Dutch descent, they named this establishment by paying respect to their immigrant grandparents and their deserving heritage. It started as a simple espresso-pushing cart and quickly boomed in popularity. Known for its hospitality to customers and positive attitude, it is a place where people keep on taking in the amazing atmosphere of it all.
It was first introduced in Tampa Bay around the fall of 2025 and has been the top conversation since. October is when they officially launched their establishment in the Lutz area and developed into a go-to drink spot for many Floridians wanting beverages varying from coffee to energy drinks.
It is a popular spot and known for its unique drive-thru design and admired music choices. Many teenagers and even adults wait in the drive-thru and even come up to the window in excitement of just getting a taste of their endless options and never-ending excitement.
“Dutch Bros has amazing high-quality drinks, and their service is amazing. My personal favorite item on the menu is the Golden Eagle, which is a caramel latte,” said junior Aniyah James.
The Dutch Bros menu holds a variety of drinks that can be drunk on any occasion. The menu is split into different sections: the coffee bar, the Rebel Energy Drinks, refreshments, and the shakes and smoothies.
The coffee bar is a fan favorite known for its multitude of flavors, involving the classics, such as mocha and cold brew. They also offer the option to customize your choice of milk and use skinny flavoring syrups.
The Rebel energy drinks are a popular choice among students at Steinbrenner, with favorites such as Shark Attack and Electric Berry. These are known to have amazing flavors, while also energizing students for the long school day, which keeps this a favorable option for teenagers.
The refreshments include multiple teas, iced lemonade, and even sparkling soda, as well as giving the option to choose flavors to incorporate into the drinks. Popular flavors include palm beaches and peaches, giving customers an extra step into making these drinks on their own.
Well-known shakes include cotton candy and chocolate, and the most favored smoothies are strawberry and mango. While the shakes and smoothies have original flavors that are nothing out of the ordinary, it gives their own personal flair to these simple flavors, which is what makes Dutch Bros so special.
Although other drink spots such as Swig are being introduced into the area, Dutch Bros will always have a place in Floridians’ hearts and a spot that people will always go back to get a drink that tastes like home. “Even with other places like Swig opening up, it will always be my favorite,” said junior Abigail Carrasco.
Though the waits might be long at rush hour with the parades of people trying to get their hands on their specialty drinks, it is worth it in the end. Dutch Bros is an establishment known for its humble culture and its way of bringing people together, and it’s a shame if you individuals don’t try it at least once. Because once you take one sip of a Dutch Bros drink, you’ll always come back!
