Steinbrenner is in the making of a new production from the famous Jones Hope Wooten Comedy, “Always a Bridesmaid.” This is a hilarious comedic play about four friends who made a promise at their Senior prom to always be at each other’s weddings, no matter the circumstances.
“Always a Bridesmaid” ventures through each of the friends’ weddings, which is not going to leave even one serious face in the crowd. Each wedding, far from normal, is prepared to bring the audience on a whirlwind of adventure, not only through their marriages, but their lives as well. From their jobs to their waistlines, we will witness it all!
This story takes place 30 years after the pact, and the southern bells have changed quite a lot since then.
Libby Ruth, played by Ashleigh Krekorian, is the helpless romantic and sweetheart of the friend group. She has a perfect marriage and pushes her friends to have the same happiness.
Monette, played by senior Kylie Bellaire, is a pro at walking down the aisle. She is highly spirited and is known for testing her lifelong friends’ patience. Even being her chaotic and flashy self, she cherishes her friends and would do anything for them.
Charlie, played by Aurora Kral, faces hardship after realizing her marriage is not a fix to all her problems. With this, she becomes outrageous when time presents itself, which is very out of the norm from her tree-hugging self.
Lastly, Deedra, played by Adelaide Welker, is known for being headstrong and sassy. Deedra goes through troubles in her marriage when she realizes her husband hasn’t been the most loyal. Nonetheless, she has her best friends by her side to help her through the storm.
These best friends are drastically different from the others, but they all bring special pieces of the story together, truly making this a deliriously funny comedy. These southern gals highlight the true meaning of friendship and what it’s like to be a trustworthy ally and a kindred spirit. “The play is filled with chaos, but underneath it highlights friendship, loyalty, and love. In the end, it shows that while weddings may be unpredictable, true friendships last,” said Krekorian.
While Mr. Brady and the theater students make it look easy, there is a lot that goes behind a production like this one. Lead actors of the show have to balance school, memorize lines, and manage their time with other extracurricular activities while pouring their heart and soul into the play. “I will forever remember the late-night rehearsals when everyone is tired but laughing together. The first time the show had clicked, and the friendships had blossomed,” said Welker.
The process is long but very rewarding for them, producing at the end a perfectly choreographed and executed play that will keep the audience on the edges of their seats with excitement.
