Throughout these past months, award season has been at its peak. The most recent ceremony as for now are the Grammys. The 66th Annual Grammy Awards occurred on February 4, 2024, in Los Angeles. The award ceremony is an event to reward the many hardworking singers for their talents.  Many of people’s favorite singers were nominated for awards such as Sza, Taylor Swift, and Lil Uzi Vert. From the fashion to unexpected announcements, it was a very eventful night for all. The host, Trevor Noah, played a big role in making the night enjoyable for everyone by cracking jokes every now and then and keeping the viewers entertained.

To start the night, the red carpet began at 6pm where fans could tune into a livestream and watch all their favorite artists enter the building. During the red carpet, the artists showed off their outfits, participated in interviews and the famous Glambot run by Cole Walliser. Taylor Swift showed up in a white, floor length gown paired with long black gloves and a clock chocker that hinted to the events that took place further into the night. Billy Joel was also a guest for the ceremony, wearing a sleek black suit and tie. Not only was his outfit outstanding, his performance of his new song “Turn the Lights Back On” had the crowd cheering.

Amongst the performers for the night, Dua Lipa opened the Grammy’s with a medley of two singles, “Training Season” and “Houdini” from her upcoming album. Another performance was by three-time Grammy Winner that night, Sza, who sang one of her most popular songs, “Kill Bill”.

With 94 categories, most of these are presented before the ceremony begins. Only 28 are televised live on TV, including the “big four”; Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist.

Miley Cyrus received her first ever Grammy that night by winning Record of the Year for her song, Flowers. The song What Was I Made For from the Barbie movie, with over 30 million streams, won Song of the Year. Finally, Victoria Monet, who’s well known for writing songs for Ariana Grande, won the award for Best New Artist.

From the glamour to the music, the 66th Grammys was a fabulous night for all. “The iconic moments of women and men making history made the night so iconic and hard to forget” said freshman Isabel Liberos. Music
