On February 22, 2023, the first ever 8th grade Club Rush gave incoming high school students the chance to interact with and learn about the directors and members of the different clubs available on school grounds.

Newcomers felt welcomed and alive, as clubs drew people in with their vibrant boards and incredible performances. Students could elaborate on their own interests and provided a channel of direct communication with the club officers and members.

Club representatives appreciate being able to use Club Rush to advertise their Club and increase membership. It’s an engaging method for demonstrating to students their endless potential.

One of the clubs that were being presented was the FCA or fellowship of Christian athletes they are a club that meets during lunch and speak about their religion. It is also a good way to surround yourself with like-minded people. They also play games and get to know each other.

A club that isn’t as known, the GSHS book club is a club where they read a book every month and talk about the book. They also play some games and eat food while having fun talking about books.

The club president Maya Farooq talked about the club,

“You can just talk to people about stuff and it’s a safe space,” said Farooq.

Another presentation was the JROTC which is a class you can take instead of a club outside of school. This class is not a military class but a class to develop future citizens and helps you be successful in your careers later in your life.

The ACC or Asian culture club teaches about different countries in Asia. At every club meeting, they learn about a different country in Asia. For example, they played the Dalgona cookie game that was featured in the show Squid Games.

One of the members of the club Dawson Nguyen talked about what they do,

“We just have a good time while learning about our Asian culture,” said Nguyen.

Club rush as a whole wants to keep encouraging warriors to discover their passions and use them to benefit school grounds and strengthen students for the future.
