Each category had two hosts to present the award to the winner. The hosts ranged from actors to comedians, all starring in films and shows. This year’s main host was a standup comedian and actor, Jo Koy. During some parts of the show, he made jokes that the audience found unfunny and quite uncomfortable. The jokes that got the most attention were the jokes about the Barbie movie and Taylor Swift. For instance, when making jokes about Swift, he stated, “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL, on the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.” As expected, most people didn’t laugh, in fact, there were laugh tracks played as background noise. Based on her facial expressions and when she took a sip of champagne, you can tell Taylor was annoyed by the comment. However, the comedian stated, “I wrote some of these, and they’re the ones you’re laughing at.” Having said this, most of his jokes were created by the writers of the Golden Globes.
There are many categories the audience is taken through throughout the night; there are 27. The Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category top nominees were Oppenheimer, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One.
