With homecoming 2022 around the corner, students of all grade levels at Steinbrenner are preparing to attend the memorable night. For some, it’s their first high school dance, and it can be overwhelming to pick out what to wear. There are so many outfits to pick from, plus fashion trends change every year.  

 There are a variety of styles to consider when choosing an outfit. A lot of girls are looking for long sleeve, strapless, or one shoulder dresses. Some people like more classy or solid colored, while others prefer sparkly with sequins and glitter. Many people get their inspiration from social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and Pinterest.  

Short dresses are what many students choose for their homecoming appearance, according to polls recorded on our Instagram page. Red, green, and blue appear to be the most popular colors as seen in stores and online for this dance season. 

Senior homecoming court nominee Maya Farooq shared her opinion, “I think greens and golds look really good together, along with black dresses and bright, colorful shoes. Not a lot of color clashing, but still a pop of color.” 

It can be especially difficult to find stores to shop at based on what you want. Factors like your budget, the quality you want, and whether you want to shop online or in person all need to be thought about. Some of the most popular stores people shop at in person are Windsor, Macys, Dillard’s, Platinum Zipper, and Nikkis Glitz and Glam Boutique. The most popular online stores are Lucy in the Sky, Princess Polly, and Lulus. 

 Another homecoming court nominee, sophomore Rita Mouannes stated, “In my opinion, places like Windsor, Lulus and even Amazon have the best homecoming dresses, especially since they all have a huge variety of cocktail dresses for affordable prices.” 

While the girls are searching for the perfect homecoming outfit, the guys are faced with what kind of suit is right for them, and where is the best place to purchase them. The safest option is a black suit, but some opt to wear a different color to stand out more.  

Several stores that provide appropriate homecoming suits include Express, JCPenney, and Brook’s Brothers. However, buying suits can get extremely pricey, so renting a suit from a store like Men’s Warehouse can be an affordable alternative.  

Senior Alex Okby who is attending homecoming this year said, “My suit cost around $200, but I’ve had it for a while and it’s going to have to last me a while.” 

With these insights you can consider current trends while shopping for your homecoming outfit for the big day coming up on Saturday, Oct. 15. Attending this dance is a great way to show off your stylish dress or dashing suit and feel like a super star.
