After coming out with their first song together “Babylon,” SZA and Kendrick Lamar created an unstoppable duo by making many more songs together. In December 2024, they announced they are going on a stadium tour around the world with each other. It came as a surprise to many fans since they were set to perform at this year’s Super bowl.
Teasing some of their songs at the Superbowl like “Luther”, “30 for 30”, and “All the Stars”, they show the audience how good they are as a duo. Then later coming out with tour dates the people were shocked, excited, and leaving sold-out stadiums all over the world.
The Superbowl performance was a little teaser to their tour, surprising the fans that enjoy their music together. “I was so excited, I just love them together,” said freshman Gabriella Granger.
While giving déjà vu to fans who watched the Superbowl, he popped out of the same black car that is on his GNX album cover. In act 1 he opened with “wacced out murals”, then later in the act he brings out SZA and performs “30 for 30”, leaving fans eager to have more of their hit songs.
However, in act 2 and 5 Kendrick performs by himself with his most popular songs. After opening with “wacced out murals” he also performed “squabble up”, “King Kunta”, “ElEMENT”, and “tv off”. These songs left fans riled up through this first part of the concert.
After Kendrick finished his last songs, he passed over the microphone to SZA where she performed “Scorsese Baby Daddy”, “F2F”,” Garden (Say It Like Dat)”, “Kitchen”, “Blind”, “Forgiveless”, and “Low”. SZA has evolved from her 2024 SOS tour, now performing at sold-out stadium shows with big stars like Kendrick Lamar.
“Their voices just blend together nicely,” Freshman Allison Berg said. SZA started her part of the concert with the joy of being back on stage. She knows how to work the crowd by treating her fans like her own friends by engaging with them. Watching her perform is never a dull moment, she will always have the beats that make you want to dance along.
To switch up the concert SZA and Kendrick performed together after their solo moments. They started off with “Doves in the Wind”, “All the stars”, which they performed at the Superbowl, and “LOVE”.
Their chemistry was felt on and off the stage, “They just know how each other works together,” said freshmen Mykieli Williams. They didn’t just have great chemistry but good stage presence and production value, from the beaming lights to the huge screens and even raising platforms with the singers on them, this just electrified the crowd and made them more hyped up. They know how to bring RNB and rap into one and make a concert that is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
