In recent weeks speculations have been going around that Chipotle, the popular food chain, is closing. Many people cannot believe this news and they don’t know if or when it will shut down. However, is that true? With burritos, tacos, bowls, and salads, Chipotle has built a loyal customer base worldwide. So, this news was a big surprise for all to hear.
Chipotle has dealt with drama in the past due to their employees being stingy with how much food they serve. Customers complained about this all-over social media. Clients would make sure the employee can see their phone recording the food to ensure more will be given. Despite this issue Chipotle is still a very loved fast casual restaurant.
The rumor originated across various social media platforms, claiming that Chipotle was struggling financially and was filing for bankruptcy. Other sources suggested that the company was facing working challenges that would result in store closures. When asked what their initial reaction was to hear this news, Sophomore Dayanna Eizaguirre stated, “My reaction to hearing the news, I was very devastated as it is my favorite fast-food place, and I am very sad”. This affects their customers who have always been a part of their growing company, as they fear they will never eat there again.
In response to this growing chatter, Chipotle was quick to address the rumors, reassuring the public that they didn’t have plans to close. They have experienced growth, and they stated they were planning to open new locations and potentially adding drive thrus. After this scare, customers thought they should get payback since this was false. Sophomore Maria Koumbis claimed,” They should make commercials telling their customers that they aren’t closing and putting out signs,” to emphasize they aren’t going anywhere.
For fans of Chipotle, the rumors have stirred up anxiety, but it’s safe to say Chipotle isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. They are likely to continue growing and their customer base can rest knowing they can still eat there. “I don’t think it will close, and I will still be able to eat my favorite meal,” Eizaguirre stated.
