The JV basketball team is really making a comeback this year starting from the rookies to the MVP’s. Winning 15 out of 17 games, their teamwork is really shown on the court with very experienced players. When asked about their teamwork, Freshman Tanner Atkinson says, “We are best friends, and we all will continue the legacy.” These players have bonded like family from being rivals at tryouts to brothers on the court.
They haven’t just improved connections but even their gameplay. “It’s improved by our chemistry, just getting better throughout the season,” freshman Cedric Mann said. It’s not all about ball play or the time on the court, having strong connections with our teammates is an important aspect of the game.
JV made it up to the top with their last game scoring 74 points against Lennard, making a new record for JV wins in a season. Adding on to their record, they beat Bloomingdale with a 31-point lead. Sophomore Brady Griffin took the lead with 211 overall points this season, as well as averaging 13 points per game helping the team tremendously.
The Steinbrenner JV basketball team is widely known to other schools with their mind-blowing winning streak of 15-2. With this, they look forward to next season with fans at the edge of their seats, ready to watch. Every player shows up on the court ready to play and support one another. The future is bright for Steinbrenner Basketball.
Now the season is coming to an end, “This season was amazing. We did a really good job and played our hearts out,” Atkinson said. This team is really dedicated to their craft and ready to continue the hard work in the offseason.
