Kicking off into the 2025 Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City chiefs is almost like time has turned back into the same match up in 2023. The chiefs are favored in a prediction of winning; however, it is also predicted that the Eagles are out to get their revenge.
“The chiefs have had their time to shine, and it’s time to pass the torch to someone else,” said sophomore Katy Warren. She states that the Eagles have had time in 2023 to bring the trophy home but lost due to their defense, offense, coaching, and injury problems.
Kansas City is chasing history, aiming to become the first team to three-peat in the modern era. However, the Eagles with a stronger roster want to end their streak and finally bring home the trophy.
For many, this game isn’t just about winning—it’s about preventing the Chiefs dominating the league. Eagles fan and Steinbrenner sophomore student Colin Sierra made his feelings clear saying, “I want the Eagles to win because I really don’t want to see the Chiefs three-peat and start a dynasty. Saquon Barkley, who is currently an MVP candidate, deserves a ring after being with a previous franchise that was beyond terrible. And the Chiefs get bailed out by the refs because of the publicity and money the NFL is making through Taylor Swift, pretty much screwing all the other teams up.”
Many fans agree, feeling like the Chiefs always catch a lucky break and that the Eagles deserve another shot after their disappointing year in 2023.
On the other hand, Chiefs fans aren’t ready to let go of their team’s dominance. With Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce still leading the way, senior Nick Nagel is confident they’ll take home another ring. He says, “I want the Chiefs to win because Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are an unstoppable duo.”
Some believe this Super Bowl could be a turning point for the NFL. Katy Warren thinks Kansas City’s run might be coming to an end. “The Chiefs have had their time to shine, and it’s time to pass the torch to someone else,” Warren says.
If the Eagles win, they’ll erase the pain of their 2023 loss and prove they belong at the top. However, if the Chiefs win, they’ll cement themselves as one of the greatest teams in NFL history.
