The Eras era has come to an end as Taylor Swift’s nearly two yearlong tour came to a close on December 8th. With glitter left on the floor after the party, memories were made that will last forever and always. As the last stop, Swift performed in Vancouver, Canada for three nights in a row, making sure she cherished her last shows.
Dating back to March of 2023, Taylor Swift kicked off her famous world tour in Glendale, Arizona. Now that the tour is just a memory, people are reminiscing about the very beginning, back when no one knew what the show was like or what was going to happen. Consisting of 44 to 46 songs during the show, Swift performed across 21 countries for her fans all over the world.
During her tour, a lot of work went into making the concert as enjoyable as possible. Taylor Swift performed for three and a half hours, changed outfits, and switched from guitar to piano all throughout the night. “It made me appreciate how much goes into her stage work, her crew, and how well she performs,” said sophomore, Sarah Berry.
Finding ways to encorporate all her eras, Swift started off the show in her Lover era. To make her grand entrance, she came out from underneath pastel-colored clouds and opened the concert with her song “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince,” using one of her lyrics, “It’s been a long time coming back,” referencing to how she hasn’t been on tour since 2018.
From her hiding in a cleaning cart before the show, to her props set up on stage, her background dancers put in tremendous amounts of work to keep her hidden and away from the crowd. Taylor Swift likes to keep her outfits as a surprise, making the concert different for every show. This eventually turned into a game for Swifties called “Mastermind” where they could place their guesses for the night’s outfits and surprise songs.
The Eras Tour will always be an unforgettable experience for many. “This concert affected me in many ways but mainly it helped me meet other friends who love Taylor’s music as much as I do,” said freshman Giulia Pelegrini. As a token for Taylor Swift, her fans made friendship bracelets to share and connect their love for her by trading them, which quickly became a concert tradition. A lot of time and effort are put into making them since they are handmade and come in many different sizes, colors, with some even including song names or lyrics.
Most fans are lucky enough to even get the chance to go once, as some weren’t able to get a hold of tickets. Going to the shows in Tampa and Miami, Pelegrini wishes she could still go back, “The whole experience didn’t feel real, it felt like a dream.”
In case you’re missing the tour, Taylor Swift’s documentary is available to watch on Disney+ not just for the fans who went, but for fans who weren’t able to grab tickets. Swift’s movie covers the whole three-hour show so anyone can experience the concert from home.
Leaving the Eras Tour behind is becoming a hard topic to manage, as most fans are questioning, is it over now? Even though the Eras era is a moment of the past, Swifties are able to look back and remember the magical memories made through their pictures and videos.
