Warning: This post contains spoilers about season four of Outerbanks
This year, the Pogues and Kooks returned to Netflix with the launch of the fourth season of Outerbanks. Totaling ten episodes, the first five were released on Oct. 10 and on Nov. 7 the last five followed to wrap up the season. Outerbanks is a series that follows “John B and his tight-knit crew of friends [who] find mystery and adventure while hunting lost treasure,” according to Netflix. The popular show is filled with endless scenes of action, romance, and drama.
The third season closed with the Pogues being approached by a mysterious man who showed them a captain’s log that once belonged to the pirate, Blackbeard. This closing scene left fans with a cliffhanger, eager to dive into the next adventure with them.
Starting season four, the Pogues are back in Kildare and are feeling more accomplished than ever with their gold findings. However, that gold quickly diminishes when conflicts with the Kooks arise. Season four follows the Pogues as they deep dive into another treasure hunt, finding the Blue Crown. The ten episodes uncover secrets, fighting scenes, and heart wrenching moments that left fans all over the world posting to social media with their thoughts.
“The plot was pretty good…I did not like the last episode,” sophomore Shlok Tandlekar said.
The season wouldn’t be complete without some jaw-dropping moments that leave the audience shocked. Throughout season four, many moments in JJ’s storyline and Sarah’s pregnancy reveal were widely considered some of the most shocking plot twists.
“The moment that was the most surprising was when JJ died,” sophomore Marley Genusa said.
While season four ended with the burial of the Pogues’ beloved friend, JJ, and Chandler Groff having the Blue Crown, the Pogues aren’t done yet. On Nov. 4, it was announced that Outerbanks has been renewed for a fifth and final season. On the Outerbanks official Instagram page they wrote, “…we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago.” emphasizing that “…we think it will be our best [season] yet.”
While nobody exactly knows where season 5 will take the Pogues, many have already formed predictions for how the show will come to an end.
“I think season 5 will bring some serious drama and might even give the characters a chance to face their pasts…maybe even a final showdown for the Pogues,” said Hess.
For now, fans are settling in for the long wait for season 5. With many emotions, they’re mourning the loss of JJ and even rewatching the season to relive the impulsive treasure hunt that the new season brought.
