It’s been a long time coming back, but after being on break for more than two months, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is getting ready to pick up again. On February 7th, Swift will make her first appearance back on tour in Tokyo, Japan.
If you didn’t already know, Taylor Swift is currently re-recording her first six studio albums, with only two left now. Swift has admitted before that she likes to drop “easter eggs,” and leave hints that tease her new albums. “It’s sort of a tradition we started a very long time ago…the first time I started dropping cryptic clues and things was when I was fourteen and fifteen…” Swift revealed during an interview with Jimmy Fallon two years ago. Currently, fans are starting to speculate that she is going to announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) soon, and they have theories to prove it.
The leading theory is that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) will be announced in Tokyo on February 7th. Looking back into the past, Swifties have realized that the Reputation Stadium Tour ended in Tokyo, and the first Eras Tour date in 2024 also happens to take place in Tokyo. This means her Reputation era ended in the same place it could re-continue, like a death and rebirth.
While unsure that date could be totally correct, fans also believe that Swift could announce Reputation (Taylor’s Version) on February 10th. In the Karma music video, it’s shown that in the coffee cup clock scene, Swift’s fingernails are painted black and blue, representing 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Reputation (Taylor’s Version). The black nail is pointing to 2, which fans believe is for February. Adding to it, in Japan, the Lunar New Year takes place on February 10th, what a coincidence right? Taylor also has a popular song on the Reputation album called New Year’s Day, which she played as a surprise song on the last night of the US leg of the tour in 2023.
A huge Swiftie, freshman Natasha Stroud, is super excited and cannot wait to be able to listen to Reputation (Taylor’s Version). She believes Swift will announce the new album on February 7th or during the Grammys on February 11th. “All the Swifties think she’s announcing it on February 7th because it’s her first day back on tour and that’s where she filmed End Game, in Tokyo,” said Stroud.
The entire fan base can’t wait for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) and will likely continue creating theories until the re-release is announced. With these different theories currently, which one seems most convincing?
