The Steinbrenner swim team has wrapped up a fantastic season, for both the boys and girls. The Warriors had 16 meets throughout the season. Each of the boys and girls had 8 meets. In each meet the scores would be added up for each Warriors swimmer and to start the year the girls start with two wins at King and Wharton High Schools. The boys participated in the same meets and tied at King and got their first win at Wharton. The Boys would get there only loss at Jesuit and then go on to win 5 meets in arrow and advance to the postseason. The girls dropped their next two events at Academy and Plant. Then to wrap up the season and win the final four meets.
With continued success the Warriors swim team had over 20 people compete in a district event. Keeping the great year going Jayden Repak broke his own school record for the 100 breaststroke. Jayden and 18 others advanced to regionals. Steinbrenner’s record breaking continued in districts with Leylah Farooq competing in the 100 breaststroke for the girls. The Warriors wrapped up the district events with big wins from Gavriela Daniels and Gavin Peck. If that wasn’t good enough for the Warriors, the regionals got even better. Jayden Repak kept the winning going and seated #1 going into the state meet the week later. With Gavin Peck right beside him they both competed together in states.
12 Warriors swimmers advanced to the state meet, 7 girls lead by Gavriela Daniels, who ended up breaking another record for the girls. On the way to state Coach Kristyn Fada was super proud and excited for her swimmers saying, “We are super excited and everybody is swimming so well!”. She was also very confident that the Warriors would finish strong, and they did, at states, Jayden Repak won a state title in the 100 breaststroke and finished second in the 50 freestyle. Along with that Repak, Danny Greene, Samuel Casadiego, and Gavin Peck all broke a school record in a 400 relay. All 8th place and better wins medals, the Warriors came home with 6 medals with all the swimmers playing a huge role. The Warriors ended on a great note, with state medals and a state win to bring back, the Warriors can use this moving into next year.
