Bundling up, with multiple layers of clothes, fuzzy socks and big sweaters aren’t something Floridians get to experience in the fall. While other places are experiencing snow, the typical fireplace conditions, Florida is stuck in the 80’s or 70’s at best. With these weather patterns, it is difficult to dress for the aesthetic of Autumn down south, and seeing northerners being able to wear trendy sweaters and stylish pants makes Floridians envious as we wear shorts.
Most Floridians don’t dress for fall during fall months, and these warm temperatures are stripping away people’s ability to be fashionable in the fall without sweating.
“Dressing for fall in Florida isn’t really like how it is across the country. We have to check the weather every day,” said junior Cooper Green.
Having good outfits for Autumn in Florida is still doable if you work around the warm climate. Green combats this difficult weather when it’s hot outside by, “Wearing baggy pants and a T-shirt just to make it simple.”
An effective way to combat the weather is wearing miniskirts; they are trendy and are not too warm. However, finding the right up to date clothes is also important when deciding how to dress in the later months of the year.
“I like to wear Brandy Melville, Princess Polly, and Urban Outfitters,” said junior Rachel Vinik.
Finding trendy fall clothes can be difficult in Florida but Green thinks otherwise, “For me I find fall clothing very easily, I usually buy most of my clothes from the internet or thrift stores.”
Freshman Charlotte Watts stated that her “perfect” fall outfit for school would be, “Leggings, a tank top, and a sweater, if I’m cold. But I usually just wear a hoodie and some shorts because I don’t want to get overheated.”
But some students like to keep it simple. “Some sweatpants and a sweatshirt from Vans, would be perfect if it’s cold out, but I usually wear shorts and a T-shirt because Florida is so humid. I like to be comfortable” said freshman Elijah Reed.
Florida humidity and heat can really affect how you present yourself. “I don’t necessarily think that it limits me, but it makes dressing harder for how humid the air is. I’m going to wear what I want to, but it makes me feel trapped if I’m in a hoodie all day but I’m usually indoors.” said Watts.
In agreeance Reed added “It limits how I dress drastically, it’s so hot, and the air is wet. It’s like walking outside to a 90-degree shower in my clothes. I can’t wear my sweater or sweatpants or anything remotely comfortable.” The weather in Florida can be aggravating but there are many ways to be stylish and comfortable during the fall season.
